Opening weekend notes

Week one is a trap. Everyone overreacts, myself included. Still, a few things felt real rather than small-sample:

Held up

• The press looked rehearsed, not improvised. That’s a preseason-camp thing you can see immediately.
• Set-piece routines were sharp. Cheap goals early are a season-long edge.

Wait and see

• The finishing numbers won’t hold — good process, lucky output.
• One good game from a new signing is a headline, not a trend.

I’ll keep a running log here through the season and see how the hot takes age.
